Faculty of Agriculture students visited a flour mill.
The practical application of the Food Science and Technology Undergraduate Course was carried out at Kumtepe Flour Factory under the supervision of BİYOMER Director Assoc. Dr. Arzu ÜNAL.
On December 23, 2025, between 10:00 and 13:00, a field trip was organized for students of the Food Science and Technology Application Undergraduate Course at the Faculty of Agriculture to Kumtepe Flour Factory (Taşburun-Merkez Mah. Atatürk Cad. 76700 Karakoyunlu, Iğdır).
The Food Science and Technology technical field trip aimed to enhance the professional knowledge and experience of Faculty of Agriculture students studying in Iğdır province. During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe firsthand all stages of wheat production until it becomes flour.
During the technical visit, students were given detailed information about the processes of wheat acceptance, cleaning, tempering, milling, sieving, and packaging. Mill systems and modern production lines were explained practically by factory officials.
Students who were informed about hygiene, occupational safety, and sustainability in production had the opportunity to see how theoretical knowledge aligns with industrial practices.
Factory officials stated that such technical visits significantly contribute to the professional development of students and that cooperation with educational institutions will continue. The students, on the other hand, said that the visit was extremely productive and improved their perspectives on the sector.
