Biodiversity Application and Research Center Held Online “Plant Science and Viticulture” Talk
The second of the Biodiversity Talks organized by the Biodiversity Application and Research Center, the online talk titled “Plant Science and Viticulture” was held on October 30, 2024. The guest of the talk was Prof. Dr. Sabit Ağaoğlu, known for his work in the field of plant science and viticulture. The event attracted the attention of many participants interested in the subject, as well as plant systematists, associate, undergraduate and graduate students.
Prof. Ağaoğlu discussed the basic principles of plant science in the talk, while drawing attention to the role of viticulture on the ecosystem and its contributions to the local economy. He also emphasized the importance of modern viticulture techniques in preserving biodiversity. During the talk, detailed information was shared on the technologies used in plant science, plant classification methods and the place of viticulture within the scope of sustainable agriculture.
Participants created an interactive environment by asking Prof. Dr. Ağaoğlu questions about innovations in plant science and the protection of local species. Young researchers in particular expressed that they were inspired by the talk with suggestions on developing sustainable viticulture practices and protecting local species.
At the end of the event, the director of the center made a thank-you speech, stating that such events are of great importance in increasing the sharing of scientific knowledge and that the center will continue to contribute to the academic community with online events in the future. Participants wished that this productive and informative event would be repeated.
