Biodiversity Talks: Plant Science and Society Relations

The first event of the “Biodiversity Talks” series organized by the Biodiversity Application and Research Center was held online on September 29, 2024. The guest of the talk was retired professor Prof. Atabay Düzenli, known for his valuable work in the field of plant science.

This event titled “Plant Science and Society Relations” aimed to convey the importance and effects of plant science in social life beyond being just an academic field to the participants. In his speech, Prof. Düzenli talked about the vital roles of plants in the ecosystem and explained their effects on the economic and social life of the local people with examples. He also drew attention to the importance of protecting plants as cultural heritage for the society. Prof. Dr. Düzenli provided information about individual and social responsibilities for increasing biodiversity and offered suggestions for projects that could be done in this regard.

At the end of the event, Thanking to Prof. Atabay Düzenli for his contributions, it was emphasized that the talk was an important step in the Biodiversity Application and Research Center’s activities towards society. Participants expressed that the event was inspiring and expressed their expectations for such talks to continue.

It was stated that Biodiversity Talks aim to reach a wider audience by bringing together scientific knowledge and social awareness.
