On December 3, 2024, within the scope of 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities,' Iğdır University held an online talk titled 'Together for Everyone: Accessibility and Sharing.' The program was organized in collaboration with Iğdır University, Süleyman Demirel University, and the Association of Children with Cochlear Implants. The moderator of the program was Dr. Belkıs MUCA YİĞİT, a faculty member of the Forestry Department at the Technical Sciences Vocational School of Iğdır University and the Director of BİYOMER. Speakers included Sinan Tarkan ASLAN, an instructor from the Department of Therapy and Rehabilitation at Eğirdir Health Services Vocational School of Süleyman Demirel University; Hatice ÇANKIR and Oğuzhan CERAN representing the Association of Children with Cochlear Implants; and young cochlear implant users Şeyma Tuğsem GÜRBÜZ, Abdulsamet ÖGER, and Vahide SEMEN. Aslan shared detailed information about the methods Süleyman Demirel University employs for the educational lives of individuals with special needs. Hatice Çankır and Oğuzhan Ceran provided insights into the founding story, structure, and support activities of the Association of Children with Cochlear Implants for individuals with hearing loss. Young university students and cochlear implant users Şeyma Tuğsem GÜRBÜZ, Abdulsamet ÖGER, and Vahide SEMEN discussed the advantages of using cochlear implants in their university lives, the challenges they face, and the facilitating efforts. Families with children who have cochlear implants participated actively in the talk, contributing with various questions.
