Students of the Faculty of Agriculture Received Practical Training in the Nursery
As part of a joint project between the Fruit Growing Application and Research Center and the Biodiversity Application and Research Center, our students from the Faculty of Agriculture made a technical field trip to a private nursery in the Kuzugüden village of Iğdır.
During the hands-on training, students were guided through apricot seed planting and were given a hands-on demonstration of the fundamental steps involved in seed planting. During the training, apricot saplings planted last year and grafted with dormant bud in August were examined on-site. Furthermore, students were shown apricot trees grafted two years ago and grown into saplings, and detailed information was provided about the tree's developmental processes.
In continuation of the field work, grafted fruit trees of different species such as apricot, plum, peach, cherry, mulberry and pear were examined in the field and the students' practical knowledge on fruit sapling cultivation was reinforced.
This field training, carried out in line with our university's practical education mission, enabled our students to make on-site observations in the fields of fruit growing and sapling production and to find the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge.
