The Aims of the Center

The Iğdır University Biodiversity Application and Research Center, officially launched with an announcement in the Official Gazette on June 27, 2020, aims to: 

1) Identify, conserve, and ensure the most efficient and sustainable use of the natural biodiversity resources of Iğdır and its surroundings, and more broadly, Turkey; 

2) Conduct research, development, and application activities to raise awareness across various sectors of society about biological diversity, the natural environment, and natural resource consciousness; 

3) Collaborate with national and international institutions and organizations to establish herbaria, insectaries, museums, arboreta, gene banks, and similar facilities in line with relevant regulations, preserving Turkey’s biological richness.
